Join me for a retreat in Tuscany this spring (One spot left!)
Spend a week in the wild part of Italy to eat, relax, write, and explore.
We have one spot left in a shared room. Read below for more info on this magical retreat!
Where: Tertulia Farm in Tuscany, Italy
Group size: 6-12 guests
Duration: 7 days, 6 nights
When: April 19-25, 2026
This culinary travel and writing adventure will take place in the wild part of Tuscany, at Tertulia Farm, a restored Italian farmhouse from the 1700s, nestled in the Mugello Forest. Tertulia Farm is rooted in permaculture principles, so along with writing we will also go foraging in the forest, visit local markets, take a cooking class together, and have morning practices of yoga and meditation.
In this week-long retreat, we will practice writing, exploring memoir and culinary stories. We will gather over fresh meals in a beautiful natural setting, discovering the unique flavors and traditions of Tuscany.
This generative retreat will deepen our connection to our daily lives and our inner worlds, creating new relationships with ourselves and our creativity.
We will connect with the land and local community, and meet people from around the world, emerging from the retreat feeling refreshed and renewed. Breath pure air, explore forest living, eat nourishing local food, and recharge with yoga, journaling, and meditation.
Nearly everything will be handled for you. Your main job is to enjoy, write and relax as you immerse yourself in Tuscany’s famous hospitality.
Our Tuscan Farmhouse

Our accommodations are at Tertulia Farm, a restored farmhouse from the 1700s built with natural materials of wood and stone. Accommodations are simple and cozy, with shared and private options. Much communal activity happens in the kitchen—where the fireplace is so large you can sit inside it! There are gardens, a view deck, and walking paths into the forest.
Our Daily Program

We’ll start each day with yoga, quiet contemplation, or coffee with a fantastic view—whatever would be most nourishing for you. After breakfast, we will discuss writing techniques and do some generative writing and sharing. We will gather for lunch, and then head out on culinary or nature based adventure to savor the tastes, smells and sounds of local life. There will be time to relax, work on your writing, and enjoy the grounds. Dinner will be made by a local chef, with opportunities to join in and learn how to make some Italian dishes.
The Foods of Tuscany

In Tuscany, you’ll find a flavorful Italian cuisine that is rustic and ingredient-forward. Fresh herbs, robust olive oils, garlic, hearty beans, local meats, and tangy cheeses. And of course fresh bread and pasta!
These earthy dishes often feature sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, lots of vegetables, and sweet elements like fruit and honey. We will have opportunities to learn to cook from a local chef. Other food experiences will include visiting a local farmer’s market and maybe even some foraging in the forest. We will discover a regenerative approach to living and reawaken our creativity through nourishing food.
The Writing Workshop

During your time in Italy, you will have the space to focus on your writing within a supportive group of peers. Your shared immersion in the local landscape and culture will give you plenty to write and talk about, as well as form new friendships.
This workshop welcomes all writers, whether you are published or have never written much at all—don’t be intimidated! All levels of experience are welcomed, so long as you arrive with an open mind (and a curiosity for Italian food and culture)! There will be time to share your work and offer feedback as a group, as well as lots of time for your own generative work. We will create a nurturing and inspiring environment, helping you to unearth the stories you want to tell. Plus all the classes will be optional— if you prefer, you can spend that time lying in a hammock contemplating the view!
Here’s what we might work on together:
Finding and strengthening your voice
Writing with the senses
How to use our writing as a means to explore all the ways we do and don’t nourish ourselves
Using memoir to tell larger stories about the world
