Welcome to a new season of Food For Thought writing prompts, Summer edition. For the next eight weeks, paid subscribers will get a weekly writing prompt in their Inbox.
These prompts are intended to help you check-in with yourself, deepen your relationship with food, and generally take stock of how you are feeling. They are structured to help you recall memories and release emotions. Plus, they are a fun way to connect to the season.
As we begin these summer months in the Western Hemisphere, we return our attention to thoughts of abundance. Flowers blooming, fruit ripening, plants sprouting—the coming season is all about the gifts of nature. We will examine the many ways we wish to cultivate more abundance in our lives during these difficult and uncertain times: more joy, friendship, community, laughter, and pleasure. You may even find that by the end of the eight weeks you feel more alive, nourished, and connected to your sense of purpose in the world.

If you would like access to these food writing prompts, or to support Feed Me Figs in general, you can upgrade to a paid subscription here.
If you do not wish to subscribe yearly, you can pay for just one or two months of prompts for the low price of an oat milk Matcha latte with lavender honey.
I’m also running a summer special this week: 20% off annual subscriptions.
If you’ve been wanting to support my work but haven’t yet, now is a great time to do so. Being an artist in this world is often financially precarious, and my work relies on the support of many. I could not do this without you. You are my modern-day patrons, $8 at a time, and I am so grateful for the support.
Also, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you think you would benefit from these prompts but can’t afford them at this time, email me at ginarae@substack.com, and I will gift you a subscription.
Keep an eye out this summer for more Tastes Good interviews, a new series of recipes-for-one so you can start romancing yourself in the kitchen, and a curated list of my favorite food products, kitchen utensils, and cookbooks all available at Gina’s Deli.
With love and gratitude,
Gina Rae

Here are this week’s writing prompt.
Try to find a quiet place where you can focus for 15-20 minutes. The point of this exercise is to write freely, without judgement, and see what comes out of your brain. You can answer each prompt question or start with the one that is most interesting and see where it takes you. Follow your mind, be present with the emotions coming up, and have fun. Try to keep writing for a full 15 minutes. It might sound like an intimidating amount of time, but I promise it will end up flying by. Just keep going!
What kind of abundance do I want to cultivate more of in my life this summer? Friends, laughter, time outside, fresh vegetables?
What do I already have in abundance that I am feeling grateful for?
What abundance do I have that I can share with others?
What are my intentions for this season of writing practice?
